What are antibodies?
Antibodies, also known as immunoglobulins, are large Y-shaped Proteins. Antibodies are naturally produced mainly by plasma cells that are used by the immune system to neutralize pathogens. Examples of pathogens are pathogenic bacteria and viruses. This means that antibodies play a crucial role in the defense against infection and disease of the immune system.
What are monoclonal antibodies?
Monoclonal antibodies are antibodies made by identical immune cells that are all clones of a unique parent cell. This means that monoclonal antibodies only bind to the same epitope on the antigen.
