PMS1 (protein homolog 1) is a member of the DNA mismatch repair mutL/hexB family. It is believed to be involved in DNA mismatch repair and can form heterodimers with DNA mismatch repair protein MLH1. Defects in this gene have been linked to hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer type 3 (HNPCC3).
