Nerve growth factor is important for the development and maintenance of the sympathetic and sensory nervous systems. It stimulates division and differentiation of sympathetic and embryonic sensory neurons. (www.uniprot.org) Produced in E.coli. Homodimer, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 222 amino acids. The activity of the protein can by measured by its stimulating effect on the proliferation of TF1 cells. EC50 130 ± 30 pM (TF1 cell assay)
