FABP4 (human, recombinant)

Fatty acid binding protein 4 (FABP4) is a member of the intracellular lipid-binding protein (iLBP) family.{11979} It is composed of a ?-barrel, which forms the lipid-binding site, and two ?-helices that form a lid on the ?-barrel.{69229} FABP4 is primarily expressed in adipocytes but has also been found in activated macrophages.{12290,12288} It is involved in lipid transport and metabolism, insulin resistance, and angiogenesis, and its expression is induced by long-chain fatty acids and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor ? (PPAR?) agonists.{11979,12287,3423,69230,7854} Knockout of Fabp4 prevents the development of atherosclerosis in ApoE-/- mice and increases body weight gain and insulin sensitivity in ob/ob mice.{12287,12888} Serum levels of FABP4 are increased in patients with colorectal cancer, and serum and synovial fluid levels of FABP4 are increased in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.{69230,65347} Cayman’s FABP4 (human, recombinant) protein can be used for lipid-binding assays and Western blot (WB) applications.
