Prostaglandin F1a-d9 (PGF1a.-d9) contains nine deuterium atoms at the 17, 17', 18, 18', 19, 19', 20, 20, and 20 positions. It is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of PGF1a by GC- or LC-mass spectrometry. PGF1a is the putative metabolite of dihomo-y-linolenic acid (DGLA) via the cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway. Both PGF1a and PGF2a have been shown to act as priming pheromones for male Atlantic salmon with a threshold concentration of 10-11 M.{3467} PGF1a binds to the ovine corpus luteum FP receptor at only 8% of the relative potency of PGF2a.{2058} It is only half as active as PGF2a in inducing human respiratory smooth muscle contractions in vitro.{2218}
