Where: De Werelt, Lunteren, The Netherlands
Information:

Guiding the action of the immune system

Interactions between the immune system and non-immune tissues

For optimal functioning of the immune system, immune cells have to interact closely with non-immune cells, including stromal cells, fibroblasts, epithelial cells and endothelial cells. These interactions already play an important role during development of immne cells, they dictate migration of immue cells - crucial step in the initiation of the immune response- and may influence immunological memory. Moreover, immune regulation may be influenced by interactions with non-immune cells, and provide a basis for ongoing inflammation, allergy and graft rejections.

More information can be found on the website www.nvvi.nl.

We invite you to visit our booth during this symposium.

NVMM & NVvM
Date: April 20th, 21st, 2010
Where: Congres centre Papendal, The Netherlands
Information:

The spring meeting of the two Dutch Microbiological Societies (NVMM & NVvM) will be held on April 20 and 21, 2010 in Papendal.

The central theme of the plenary Tuesday-morning session is “Microbes: friend or foe”. Within this theme several renowned national and international speakers will highlight examples of situations where microbes are beneficial for people or the environment, but also situations where microbes are extremely harmful. Of course there are examples where either the distinction is not obvious or where there is a balance between these two situations. All this illustrates how we have coexisted with microbes over the course of evolution and how these relationships between host/environment and microbes have led to a complex and intricate coexistence.

More information can be found on http://www.nvmm.nl/.

We invite you to visit our booth during this meeting.
